Nintendo Café food menu looks just as amazing as the Nintendo theme park

The Nintendo theme park in Japan may have been delayed until next year but to make up for it there is a Mario themed café.

Just as many video games have been delayed this year so too has the opening of the Nintendo World theme park in Japan, which was originally supposed to coincide with the Tokyo Olympics.

Now neither of those things are going to happen, with Nintendo officially announcing that the opening, at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, has been delayed until spring 2021.

Photos and videos have been leaking out for years but the latest ones, from various Japanese newspapers and fan sites look, super impressive. That makes it even more frustrating that no one can visit, but there is an alternative: the Mario café.

The Nintendo area is only part of the larger Universe Studios theme park and that is currently open, which means people can visit the café when it opens on October 16.

We’re not sure if the name is going to change (the Schwab’s Pharmacy hoarding is a generic Universal Studios thing) but the Nintendo website promises both Nintendo themed food and shopping opportunities.

There’s no details on the latter but the food menu is already looking fabulous, with Mario and Luigi themed drinks and what Google Translate identifies as pancake sandwiches.

The menu is likely to be more substantial than what we see here but it does seem to be specifically Mario themed, although the shop may end up referencing other Nintendo franchises.

It’s all very reminiscent of the Capcom café in Tokyo, which earlier in the year created a range of menu items to celebrate Street Fighter, including a Guile burger and Dalsim yoga fire curry.

They say never meet your heroes, but apparently eating them is totally fine in Japan.
