The Game Awards 2020 confirmed for December in London, Tokyo, and LA

What new games will be revealed this year?

The year’s last big chance for some major new game announcements will take place in three cities, despite no longer being a physical event.

It’s the Tokyo Game Show this week but, of course, not really because, like every other event this year, it’s been forced to become a purely online affair.

In recent years, the show has become a shadow of its former self though and rarely plays host to major announcements anymore – although it might be slightly better this year because of the next gen.

What has proven a far more reliable source for game-related revelations is The Game Awards, hosted by Geoff Keighley, which will this year take place on 10 December.

That’s pretty much the same time as usual, although of course it won’t be a proper physical event either. To make up for that fact though, it will livestream from not only Los Angeles but also London and Tokyo.

This was apparently inspired by Death Stranding (Keighley and Hideo Kojima are close pals), although what that means for air times we don’t know as the event is usually on in the very early hours from a UK perspective.

It’s probably too early to start speculating on exactly what games will be unveiled but with many reveals having being postponed from E3 this could be the biggest event yet, which given it clocked up almost 50 million viewers in 2019 will be no small feat.

Normally all three console manufacturers are in attendance, so at this point nothing is off the table in terms of what might be featured; although Keighley does usually start to offer a few teases closer to the date.
