A series of ultra-cheap 3DS games have made a surprising re-entry in the UK charts, as physical sales for The Last Of Us Part 2 drop by 80%.
The more high profile a game is the more its sales tended to be front-loaded, so an 80% drop for The Last Of Us Part 2, in its second week, isn’t as unusual as it might sound. Especially as Uncharted 4 dropped by 78% in its second week, back in 2016.
What is unusual though is that the game was almost outsold by the follow-up to Bravely Default (not to be confused with this year’s Bravely Default 2) which despite being on 3DS suddenly doubled its lifetime UK sales in a single week, due to costing only £2.49 at Argos.
A number of similarly discounted, and even more obscure, 3DS games also made it into the top 40, including Little Battlers Experience and Teddy Together. Although remake Metroid: Samus Returns is more tempting at £12.99 and re-entered the charts at number 28.
The highest new entry of the week was remaster SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated at number three, while the only other genuine new release was driving simulator Assetto Corsa Competizione at number 12.
