Although the first remake didn’t seem to make much impact, it still seems like there’s a chance that MediEvil could return.
The enormous success of the Crash Bandicoot remakes should’ve sent most publishers scurrying to their back catalogues, to work out what family-friendly franchise they could bring back in a similar manner.
The problem is most of them haven’t got any, so last year’s remake of PlayStation 1 game MediEvil is all there’s been. But since the original wasn’t really that good it didn’t do nearly as well as Crash and co.
Given how little impact it made the chances of a remake for the sequel seemed remote, but original composer Andrew Barnabas, who returned for the first remake, seems to be implying otherwise on Twitter.
Actually…..

As you can see, he doesn’t offer any details – or any kind of cast iron promise – but he’s clearly implying that a remake of MediEvil 2 is a possibility.
The second game was set 500 years after the original, in Victorian London, and involved both Jack the Ripper and another army of the dead.
Remaking MediEvil 2 is surprising on many levels, not least because it wasn’t even that successful the first time round and, except for a remake of the first game on PSP, that was the end of the franchise until now.
If Sony really are interested in keeping the series going you would’ve thought a new game, not tied to the limitations of the originals, would be the answer, but at the moment there doesn’t seem to be any suggestion of that.
