Luigi’s Mansion 3 multiplayer DLC to release throughout 2020

Luigi’s Mansion 3 will receive ‘ghoulish delights’, including new mini-games and costumes for the multiplayer modes.

While most fans will have spent their Luigi’s Mansion 3 experience exploring the haunted hotel, ridding it of the pesky ghosts and rescuing Luigi’s friends, there is a multiplayer option for those who want to bust ghosts with friends or family.

And if you find the multiplayer options somewhat lacking, then Nintendo has you covered as the publisher has announced the first details for the game’s DLC.

Two multiplayer packs are scheduled to release throughout 2020, with the first set to arrive on 30 April. It will add three new mini-games to the ScreamPark, though there are no exact details on what these mini-games will entail.

All we have to go on is this image that shows what looks like the already existing Coin Floating game, just in a very different and more dangerous location.

What’s likely more exciting, though, is the new content for the co-op ScareScraper mode: three new costumes for Luigi.

Wearing these costumes – a knight, a mummy, and a disco outfit – do more than just change Luigi’s appearance. Wearing one will allow players to explore a new themed floor of the ScareScraper that matches the costume in question.

So, if you wear the knight costume, you’ll encounter a floor that resembles the Castle MacFrights area from the main game. These areas will also have thematic ghosts with appropriate appearances.

There doesn’t seem to be any plans to introduce new story content via DLC, which may be disappointing for some. However, if you pre-purchase the DLC, you can get the Flashlight Type-P, which simply changes Luigi’s flashlight so it makes the Polterpup’s face when shined on a wall. This can be used in both single and multiplayer.

As for DLC Pack 2, it will release on 31 July and come with another three mini-games and costumes. But be warned, these packs can’t be bought separately and have to be purchased as a bundle.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is out now on Nintendo Switch.
